Google Business Profile Setup & Verification
Google Business Profile setup looks simple, but small mistakes at the start, such as the wrong primary category or a name that breaks Google's guidelines, can cause verification failures or suspensions later. We handle the setup and verification process carefully, as the first step of our Google Business Profile management. Once you are verified, profile optimization turns the listing into something that wins calls and visits.
Quick answer
What is Google Business Profile Setup & Verification?
Google Business Profile setup is the process of creating or claiming your business listing on Google Search and Maps, entering accurate details such as name, category, address or service area, hours, and contact info, then completing Google's verification. Only verified profiles can be fully managed by the owner and are eligible to appear reliably in local results.
What you get with setup & verification.
- Eligibility check against Google's guidelines for your type of business
- New profile creation or claiming of an existing listing
- Ownership recovery when a former employee or vendor controls the profile
- Business name, primary category, address or service area, and hours set up correctly
- Verification support for whichever methods Google offers your listing
- Duplicate profile cleanup and merge requests
- User access setup so your business, not an agency, stays the primary owner
Who it's for
- New businesses opening their first location or launching a service area
- Owners locked out of a profile created by a past employee or vendor
- Businesses stuck in a failed verification or suspension loop
How we deliver setup & verification.
- 1
Check eligibility and history
We confirm your business qualifies, search for existing or duplicate listings, and find out who currently owns them.
- 2
Set up the core details
Name, categories, address or service area, phone, and website are entered exactly as they appear in the real world and on your site.
- 3
Complete verification
We prepare you for the verification method Google offers, such as a video recording or a code by phone, text, email, or mail, and resolve issues if it fails.
- 4
Hand off to optimization
Once verified, the profile moves into ongoing management, with local search work coordinated through our local SEO services.
How do I verify my Google Business Profile?
You verify your Google Business Profile by completing whichever method Google offers for your listing, which may include a recorded video, a code sent by phone, text, or email, a postcard, or a live video call. Google chooses the available options based on your business type, location, and history, so not every method is offered to every business.
Video verification is now common. It usually asks you to show your location or signage, proof of management such as keys or a register, and tools or equipment that show you run the business. Preparing those shots in advance avoids most rejections. We walk you through it before you hit record.
Why does Google Business Profile verification fail?
Verification usually fails because the details on the profile do not match what Google can confirm, for example a business name with added keywords, an address Google cannot match to a real storefront, or video footage that does not clearly show the business. Ineligible locations, such as virtual offices or mailboxes, are a common cause too.
Service-area businesses that work at customers' locations should hide their address and list the areas they serve instead of showing a home address as a storefront. When verification fails, we review the profile against Google's guidelines, correct the details, and follow Google's appeal or support process. Brands opening several sites at once should look at multi-location profile management, and if your profile is stuck right now, tell us what Google is showing you.

Setup & verification questions.
Yes, creating and managing a Google Business Profile is free. You pay only if you hire help to set it up and manage it, or if you choose to run paid ads.
It varies. Some verifications complete within minutes or days, while video reviews and postcards can take longer, and Google may ask for more information. We cannot control Google's review times, but we can make sure your submission is complete.
Yes. Service-area businesses can create a profile, hide their address, and list the cities or regions they serve. You still need a real business address for verification, but it will not be shown publicly.
Setup is quoted as a fixed scope or included in ongoing management, depending on how complex your situation is, for example recovering ownership or fixing duplicates. Our pricing page explains how we scope this work.
Your business should always be the primary owner. Agencies and staff should be added as managers so access can be removed without losing control of the profile.
