UX Research & Conversion Audits

A conversion audit gives you a clear, evidence-based answer to the question every growth team asks: why are people not buying or signing up? It is usually the first step in our conversion rate optimization services, and the findings feed directly into fixes and tests.

Quick answer

What is UX Research & Conversion Audits?

A conversion audit is a structured review of a website or funnel that identifies why visitors are not converting and what to fix first. It combines analytics funnel analysis, a heuristic UX review, session recordings and heatmaps, on-site surveys and user testing, then ranks every finding by expected impact, confidence and effort.

How it works

How we deliver ux research.

  1. 1

    Check the data

We confirm your analytics are tracking key events correctly, because an audit built on broken data leads to the wrong fixes.

  2. 2

    Find where

Quantitative analysis shows which pages, steps and segments lose the most potential customers.

  3. 3

    Learn why

Recordings, surveys and usability tests explain the behavior behind the numbers, in your customers' own words.

  4. 4

    Prioritize the fixes

We rank findings and hand them over as quick fixes, design changes and hypotheses for A/B testing. See our pricing for audit scopes.

What is included in a conversion audit?

A conversion audit includes a review of your analytics setup, funnel analysis to locate the biggest drop-offs, an expert UX review of key pages, behavior analysis from heatmaps and recordings, and direct customer input through surveys or usability tests. The output is a prioritized list of problems with recommended fixes.

We also flag issues that block people outright, such as broken forms, errors on certain browsers and accessibility barriers. For a full standards-based review, our accessibility testing team checks against WCAG.

What is the difference between quantitative and qualitative UX research?

Quantitative research measures what happens at scale: conversion rates, drop-off by step, clicks and scroll depth. Qualitative research explains why it happens, through usability sessions, interviews, open-ended survey answers and recordings of individual visits.

You need both. Numbers without context lead to guesswork, and interviews without numbers can overweight a few strong opinions. A good audit uses data to pick where to look and qualitative methods to understand what to change, for example in the checkout flow.

How many users do you need for usability testing?

Fewer than most teams expect. Small rounds with a handful of participants from your target audience usually surface the most serious usability problems, because people tend to stumble on the same issues. Running several small rounds with fixes in between is more useful than one large study.

Usability testing is about finding problems, not proving percentages, so it complements analytics rather than replacing it. Recruiting the right participants matters more than the number.

FAQ

UX research questions.

Most audits take a few weeks, depending on the size of the site, how many flows are in scope and whether usability testing with recruited participants is included. Surveys also need time to collect enough responses.

Usually read access to your analytics, tag manager and any existing heatmap or recording tool, plus your e-commerce or CRM platform where relevant. If recording tools are not installed, we set them up at the start.

You receive a findings report with evidence for each issue, a prioritized action list split into quick fixes, design changes and test ideas, and a walkthrough session with your team.

Reputable recording tools mask form inputs and sensitive fields by default, and we configure them to respect your consent setup and privacy policy. We avoid capturing personal or payment data.

Pricing is custom and depends on the number of pages and flows, and whether usability testing and surveys are included. Our pricing page explains how audits and ongoing CRO programs are structured.
