E-commerce Website Development (Shopify)

Our Shopify development work focuses on stores that need to load fast, show products clearly and convert at checkout. We build custom Shopify themes, integrate the apps and systems your operations depend on and handle migrations from other platforms. It is part of our broader website development services.

Quick answer

What is E-commerce Website Development?

Shopify development is the design, customization and extension of online stores built on Shopify. It includes custom theme development, app and API integrations, Shopify Plus checkout customization through Checkout Extensibility, migrations from other platforms and performance work, so a store can sell efficiently and scale without fighting its own technology.

How it works

How we deliver e-commerce & shopify.

  1. 1

    Store audit and planning

We review your catalog, apps, theme and operations to decide what to customize, what to keep and what to remove.

  2. 2

    Design and theme build

We design key templates (home, collection, product, cart) and build a maintainable custom theme your team can edit in the theme editor.

  3. 3

    Integrate and migrate

We connect apps and back-office systems, migrate products, customers and orders where needed, and map old URLs to new ones.

  4. 4

    Launch and iterate

We launch, verify tracking and checkout, then keep the store updated through website maintenance and support.

Shopify vs custom e-commerce: which is right?

Shopify is the right choice for most direct-to-consumer and many B2B brands, because hosting, security, payments and checkout are handled for you and your team can focus on selling. Fully custom e-commerce makes sense only when your business model needs logic Shopify cannot support through apps, Shopify Functions or its APIs.

A middle path is headless commerce, where Shopify runs products and checkout while a custom front end, built with Hydrogen or Next.js, delivers the shopping experience. It adds flexibility but also cost and complexity, so we recommend it only when the benefits are clear. Our pricing page explains how we scope each option.

Do I need Shopify Plus?

You need Shopify Plus when you require advanced checkout customization, B2B features, multiple expansion stores, higher API limits or dedicated support at higher sales volumes. Many growing brands run well on standard Shopify plans for a long time.

On Plus, checkout changes are built with Checkout Extensibility, which uses checkout UI extensions and Shopify Functions instead of editing checkout code directly. Improving that flow is closely tied to our checkout optimization work.

Why is my Shopify store slow?

Most slow Shopify stores are weighed down by too many apps injecting scripts, oversized images, heavy themes and leftover code from apps that were uninstalled. Each one adds work for the browser and hurts Core Web Vitals on product pages.

We audit what each script does, remove what you do not need and rebuild key templates efficiently. Speed and conversion problems often hide margin issues too, as our article on e-commerce margin leaks explains. For campaign traffic, dedicated landing page design can complement your product pages.

FAQ

E-commerce & Shopify questions.

Yes, with careful planning. We migrate products, customers and order history where possible, keep important content, and set up 301 redirects from old URLs to new Shopify URLs so search engines and customers land on the right pages.

We build private integrations and custom app functionality when an existing app does not fit, such as syncing with an ERP or adding business-specific logic. We always check first whether a reliable existing app can do the job.

Yes. We build themes with Shopify sections and blocks, so your team can rearrange content, update banners and create pages in the theme editor without touching code.

Yes, when it is justified. Headless builds with Hydrogen or Next.js suit brands that need highly custom experiences or content-heavy storefronts, but they cost more to build and maintain than a theme-based store.

Pricing is custom and depends on catalog size, design scope, integrations and whether a migration is involved. Our pricing page explains how we scope work, and we provide a fixed quote after reviewing your store.
