Automated Testing (Playwright & Cypress)

Our automated testing services build test suites that run every time your team changes code, so regressions are caught in minutes rather than by customers. We work mainly with Playwright and Cypress for web apps, as part of our QA testing services. Automation complements, not replaces, the human testing in our website QA testing.

Quick answer

What is Automated Testing?

Automated testing services design, write and maintain scripts that test software automatically, so key features are checked on every code change instead of by hand. For web apps this usually means end-to-end tests in Playwright or Cypress running in a CI pipeline, supported by unit and API tests, to catch regressions before they reach users.

What's included

What you get with automated testing.

  • Automation strategy: what to automate, at which level, and what to keep manual
  • End-to-end tests in Playwright or Cypress for critical user journeys
  • API tests for backend endpoints and integrations
  • Test data setup and environment configuration
  • CI integration with GitHub Actions, GitLab CI or your existing pipeline
  • Reports with screenshots, videos and traces for failed tests
  • Flaky test triage and ongoing suite maintenance

Who it's for

  • Product teams releasing frequently who rely on slow manual regression checks
  • Engineering teams whose existing test suite is flaky or ignored
  • Companies preparing to scale a product and needing safer releases
How it works

How we deliver automated testing.

  1. 1

    Assess

We review your app, existing tests and release process, and identify the journeys where a regression would hurt most.

  2. 2

    Build the foundation

Framework setup, test data, environments and CI integration, so tests are reliable from the first run.

  3. 3

    Cover critical paths

We automate the highest-value flows first (sign-up, login, checkout, core features), then expand coverage in priority order.

  4. 4

    Maintain

Tests are updated as the product changes and flaky tests are fixed quickly, so the team keeps trusting the results.

Manual vs automated testing: which do I need?

Most teams need both: automated tests for repetitive regression checks and manual testing for new features, usability and exploratory work. Automation is fast and consistent at confirming that things which worked yesterday still work today. Humans are better at noticing that something feels wrong, is confusing or breaks in a way nobody thought to script.

Automate flows that are stable, business-critical and run on every release. Keep testing manual for features still changing every week, visual and usability judgment, and one-off checks. Automating too early or too broadly creates a suite that breaks constantly and costs more to maintain than it saves.

Playwright or Cypress: which should you use?

Choose Playwright if you need broad browser coverage including WebKit (the engine behind Safari), multiple tabs or origins, or tests in several languages. It runs tests in parallel out of the box and includes a trace viewer that makes failed tests easier to debug.

Choose Cypress if your team values its interactive test runner and developer experience, and your app fits its execution model. It is widely used in JavaScript teams and has a mature ecosystem and documentation.

If your team already has a working suite in one, keep it. For new projects we usually recommend Playwright, and we use it across the custom software we build. Native mobile flows are a different case, covered by Appium in our mobile app testing. To discuss your setup, talk to our QA team.

FAQ

Automated testing questions.

It depends on the size of the app, the state of your environments and test data, and how much coverage you want. We start with the most critical journeys so you get value early, then expand in agreed phases.

A flaky test passes and fails without any code change, usually due to timing, shared test data or unstable environments. We fix the root cause with reliable waits, isolated data and stable selectors, and quarantine a test only while it is being fixed.

Yes. For native and cross-platform apps we use tools such as Appium, while Playwright and Cypress cover web apps and mobile web.

Cost depends on the number of journeys, environments and how often tests need to change. Our pricing page explains how we structure setup and maintenance engagements.
