Mobile App Testing

Our mobile app testing services help you release iOS and Android updates with confidence, on the devices your users actually own. We combine manual testing on real phones and tablets with automation, as part of our QA testing services. For apps we build ourselves through iOS and Android app development, testing runs alongside every sprint.

Quick answer

What is Mobile App Testing?

Mobile app testing services verify that an iOS or Android app works correctly across devices, operating system versions, screen sizes and network conditions before it reaches users. Testing covers functionality, usability, interruptions, permissions, performance and store readiness, using a mix of manual testing on real devices and automated tests with tools such as Appium.

What's included

What you get with app testing.

  • Device and OS coverage plan based on your user data
  • Functional testing of every feature and user flow
  • Real-device testing, in-house and through cloud device labs
  • Interruption, permission, offline and poor-network testing
  • Regression suites for each release, with Appium automation where it pays off
  • Store readiness checks against common App Store and Google Play rejection reasons
  • Bug reports with device details, logs, screenshots and video

Who it's for

  • Product teams shipping regular iOS and Android releases
  • Companies whose app reviews mention crashes or device-specific bugs
  • Developers without a dedicated QA team before store submission
How it works

How we deliver app testing.

  1. 1

    Define coverage

We pick devices and OS versions from your analytics and market, and map the flows that must never break.

  2. 2

    Test the build

Testers install builds from TestFlight or Google Play testing tracks and work through features, edge cases and real-world conditions.

  3. 3

    Automate the core

Stable, high-value flows such as login and purchase get automated tests that run on every build.

  4. 4

    Release check

A final regression pass and store readiness review before you submit, then smoke tests on the live version.

Real devices or emulators: which should you test on?

Use both: emulators and simulators for fast, early checks during development, and real devices before every release. Emulators are free, quick to reset and good for layout and logic, but they do not fully reproduce real hardware, battery and memory behavior, cameras, sensors, notifications or manufacturer-specific Android customizations.

Real-device testing catches the bugs users actually report. We combine a set of physical devices with cloud device labs, which give access to a wide range of models and OS versions without buying every phone.

What do mobile app testers check that developers often miss?

Testers focus on real-world conditions that are easy to overlook at a desk: incoming calls and notifications mid-flow, switching apps and returning, losing connection on a subway, denying a permission, low storage, large system font sizes and dark mode.

They also check upgrade paths. An app that works on a fresh install can still fail for existing users after an update if stored data or settings migrate badly. Slow screens and heavy network usage are flagged too, and for backend load we recommend dedicated performance testing.

Testing cannot guarantee a store approval or a bug-free release, but it lowers the risk of shipping known problems. See our pricing page for how ongoing release testing is structured.

FAQ

App testing questions.

Yes. We test native apps and cross-platform apps built with React Native or Flutter on both platforms, since the same code can behave differently on each.

Yes. We install pre-release builds through TestFlight, Google Play internal or closed testing, or other distribution tools you already use.

Automate stable, repeated flows like login, onboarding and purchase. Keep exploratory and usability testing manual, because those depend on human judgment.

Cost depends on app size, the device matrix, release frequency and how much automation you need. We scope it with you, and our pricing page explains how QA engagements work.

Yes. We only need access to test builds, a test account and any documentation or acceptance criteria you have. Bugs are logged in your own tracker so your developers can work on them directly.
