SEO Content Strategy & On-Page SEO

An SEO content strategy decides what your site should say, on which page, for which search, so pages stop competing with each other and start covering topics completely. It sits at the center of our SEO services and turns keyword research into a publishing and update plan your team can actually follow.

Quick answer

What is SEO Content Strategy & On-Page SEO?

An SEO content strategy is a plan for which pages to create, update, merge or remove so each one targets a distinct search intent, and how those pages link together. On-page SEO is the execution on each page: titles, headings, copy, internal links, images and structured data aligned with what searchers need.

What's included

What you get with content & on-page seo.

  • Keyword and topic research mapped to buyer stages and search intent
  • Content inventory with keep, update, merge and remove recommendations
  • Keyword-to-URL map that prevents cannibalization
  • On-page optimization of titles, meta descriptions, headings and copy
  • Internal linking plan between hub pages, service pages and articles

  • Editing and optimization of drafts from your team or writers

Who it's for

How it works

How we deliver content & on-page seo.

  1. 1

    Inventory and research

We pull every indexable URL with its traffic and rankings, then research the searches your buyers use at each stage.

  2. 2

    Map and prioritize

Each target keyword gets one owning page. We flag overlaps, gaps and quick wins, then rank the work by business value.

  3. 3

    Optimize and create

We update existing pages first, then brief or write new ones, formatting key answers so they also support answer engine optimization.

  4. 4

    Measure and refresh

We track rankings, clicks and conversions per page and schedule refreshes for content that starts to slip. See our pricing for how ongoing work is scoped.

What is keyword cannibalization and how do you fix it?

Keyword cannibalization happens when several pages on your site target the same search intent, so search engines have to guess which one to rank and none of them performs as well as a single strong page would. It often shows up as rankings that swap between URLs or pages stuck on page two.

The fix is usually editorial, not technical: merge overlapping pages into one, redirect the old URLs, and give each remaining page a clearly different purpose. Canonical tags and redirects need to be set correctly, which is where our technical SEO services come in.

Should I update old content or write new posts?

Update first in most cases. Pages that already rank on page two or three, or that used to perform and have slipped, can often improve faster than a new URL that starts from zero. Updating also reduces clutter that dilutes your site.

New content makes sense when there is a real gap: a buyer question you do not answer anywhere, or a topic where competitors have useful pages and you have none. Our guide to SEO in the age of AI answers covers how to format both for AI search as well.

How is SEO content strategy different from content marketing?

SEO content strategy starts from search demand: what people type, which intent each query carries, and which page should satisfy it. Content marketing starts from the audience and covers distribution in channels like email, LinkedIn and partner sites, where search is only one source of attention.

Many teams need both. If you want newsletters, case studies and thought leadership alongside search-driven pages, see our content marketing services.

FAQ

Content & on-page SEO questions.

There is no ideal number. A few well-researched pieces that answer real buyer questions usually outperform a high volume of thin posts. We set a cadence based on your topic gaps and the resources you have to keep quality high.

We may use AI tools for research and outlining, but every page is written or edited by people who check facts and add real expertise. Google's guidance focuses on whether content is helpful and original, not on how it was produced.

It varies with competition, your site's authority and how well the page satisfies the search. Some pages gain traction within weeks, while competitive topics can take months. Updating pages that already rank is usually the faster route.

Yes, ideally. Short interviews with your team add first-hand detail, examples and opinions that generic content cannot match, and that experience is what makes pages worth ranking and citing.

Pricing is custom and depends on the size of your existing content library and how many pages you want created or updated each month. We scope a strategy phase first, and our pricing page explains the ongoing options.
