Marketing Attribution & Reporting

Marketing attribution tells you which channels deserve credit for revenue, so you can move budget with confidence instead of trusting whichever platform reports the biggest number. We reconcile GA4, ad platforms and your backend data, then build reporting that shows channel contribution honestly. It sits at the center of our marketing analytics services.

Quick answer

What is Marketing Attribution & Reporting?

Marketing attribution is the process of assigning credit for a sale or lead to the marketing touchpoints that influenced it. Common approaches include last-click and data-driven models in GA4, platform-reported attribution, marketing mix modeling and incrementality tests. Good attribution combines several methods to guide budget decisions.

What's included

What you get with attribution.

  • Attribution audit comparing GA4, ad platform and backend revenue
  • UTM and channel grouping standards applied across every campaign
  • Custom GA4 channel groups and attribution settings review
  • Blended metrics such as MER and new-customer CAC alongside platform ROAS
  • Incrementality test design, such as geo holdouts or platform lift studies
  • Monthly attribution report with budget recommendations

Who it's for

  • Brands running several paid channels whose reported results do not add up
  • Finance and leadership teams asking which spend is truly incremental
  • Marketers who need defensible numbers before increasing budget
How it works

How we deliver attribution.

  1. 1

    Reconcile the sources

We line up conversions from GA4, Google Ads, Meta and your CRM or store to see where each one over or under counts.

  2. 2

    Fix the inputs

We standardize UTMs and channel groups, and where signal is weak we recommend server-side tracking before modeling anything.

  3. 3

    Choose the methods

We pair a daily attribution view with blended business metrics and, when budget allows, structured lift tests that measure true incremental impact.

  4. 4

    Report and act

Findings go into a recurring report with clear budget recommendations, delivered through your marketing dashboard. Scope and cost are outlined on our pricing page.

Which attribution model should I use?

For most businesses, GA4’s data-driven model is a reasonable default for day-to-day analysis, with last-click reports kept for comparison. Google removed first-click, linear, time-decay and position-based models from GA4, so the practical choice is now data-driven or last-click.

No single model is the truth. Each one answers a slightly different question, which is why we use them as directional tools and validate big decisions with blended metrics or lift tests.

Why do Google Ads and Meta both claim the same sale?

Each ad platform uses its own attribution window and counts any conversion it touched, including view-through conversions, so the same order can be claimed by several platforms at once. Added together, platform-reported revenue often exceeds what you actually sold.

That is why we report a blended view, total revenue against total spend, next to platform numbers. Our article on why ROAS is lying to you explains how to read both without overreacting to either.

What is incrementality testing?

Incrementality testing measures how many conversions a channel caused that would not have happened anyway, usually by comparing an exposed group with a holdout group. Geo tests and platform conversion lift studies are the most common formats.

Tests need enough volume and a clean design to produce a usable answer, so we recommend them for your largest spend lines, such as paid advertising channels where budget decisions carry the most risk.

FAQ

Attribution questions.

User-level multi-touch attribution is harder than it used to be, because consent choices and browser limits break journeys across devices and sessions. Modern attribution relies more on modeled data, aggregated methods like marketing mix modeling and controlled experiments.

Attribution assigns credit to individual touchpoints using tracked user journeys. Marketing mix modeling uses aggregated historical spend and sales data to estimate each channel’s contribution, including offline media, and it does not depend on user-level tracking.

Yes, as long as the data is captured somewhere we can connect to. We can import offline conversions from your CRM into Google Ads and Meta and join call tracking or point-of-sale data in reporting.

Pricing is custom and depends on how many channels and data sources are involved and whether you need ongoing reporting or a one-time audit. Our pricing page explains how we scope engagements.
